InOpen Intern class of 2013
InOpen has a pretty interesting history with interns. Since inception there is something different and crazy altogether about the InOpen internship experience. In past years we’ve had more than 15 interns and this year we want to make a huge jump to 25.
I’m not gonna lie when I say that in the beginning we seemed to be panicking at the thought of a bunch of kids running around and tearing up our office, but everything turned out to be pretty great.
I as a CEO of InOpen attribute InOpen’s conceptualization to my internship days at IIT Bombay which I feel has been a life changing experience for him. Interns are close to InOpen and me.
Our interns came from a variety of schools (IIT ‘s, NUS Singapore, Delhi University, Rajasthan University, Punjab University, SJSOM, and few others). With such a large class, we basically increased our overall team by 30% overnight. Instead of fetching coffee or doing paperwork, our interns hit the floor running and were treated as full-time members of their respective teams (Academics, Operations, Business Developments, Support, and even working with CEO) working on user-facing projects critical to InOpen’s core.
- Before the final shipment of Computer Masti it was edited again by the intern team to help make sure InOpen’s secret sauce stays secret.
- Our pre – marketing strategy was formed in one of the Intern brainstorm meeting.
- InOpen’s Hyderabad Operations were started because of an Intern’s effort.
- Writing content which is featured directly in Computer Masti’s content.
As a whole, we think this list is really impressive, and I’d like to give huge props to our entire intern class for being able to deliver. The things they’ve accomplished this summer speak hugely to their creativity, ingenuity, and work ethic.

Here are few areas and responsibilities for new internship opportunities at InOpen.
Market Research – The Market Research Intern will be principally responsible for interpreting data, formulating reports and making recommendations based upon the research findings. To accomplish this task, the Market Research Intern will work with the client (either internal or external) to understand, define and document the overarching business object. She/he will be required to apply qualitative and quantitative techniques to interpret the data and produce substantiated recommendations. She/he will be required to frequently present the findings and recommendations to the client.
Operations Strategies – The Operation Strategies Intern will be required to analyze information obtained from management in order to conceptualize and define operational problems. She/he will be required to break systems into their component parts, assign numerical values to each component, and examine the mathematical relationships between them. The intern will collaborate with senior managers and decision-makers to identify and solve a variety of problems, and to clarify management objectives. She/he will be required to define data requirements; then gather and validate information, applying judgment and statistical tests. She/he will be in charge of designing, conducting, and evaluating experimental operational models in cases where models cannot be developed from existing data.
Research for Industry reports – The intern will be required to do an in-depth research on the industry trends by going through reports and other materials available. He/she will create and develop products in accordance with market demands. His job responsibilities include researching and developing new and improved product lines, bringing these new products and processes to an industrial scale etc.
Content Validation – Serve as a key member of the Academic team that drives best-in-class content for all the clients. The intern will collaborate with the Business Development team, Academic team, Support team and vendors to ensure that the product content and non-product content achieves business goals and supports user experience effectively. The intern will be required to identify content gaps and develop content resource plan accordingly. She/he will help in guiding the content creation, maintenance, management and serve as a domain expert on various types of content, such as product data, images, videos, UGC, etc. The intern will be required to identify content enrichment opportunities based on customer feedback and in conjunction marketing /promotion and other business events. She/he will work with merchants, buyers and vendors to execute the content enrichment project and define content metrics and measure the value of good content. The intern will be required to research the content and report on relevant industry trends and best practices to identify opportunities for new or improved customer experience.
Qualities for the roles mentioned above:
- Ability to think clearly and independently.
- Interest in School ecosystem and the educational scenario of the country across various education boards preferred.
- Passion about Computer Science.
- Should have high level of fluency in English both oral and written.
- Should have excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills. Energetic, self-motivated and a team player.

7 days training at InOpen Office in InOpen IIT Bombay Campus.
Stipend – Competitive stipend compared to industry standards will be paid to the interns.
Accommodation – For outstation interns, we will assist in finding suitable accommodations during your stay.
