InOpen Intern class of 2013

InOpen has a pretty interesting history with interns. Since inception there is something different and crazy altogether about the InOpen internship experience. In past years we’ve had more than 15 interns and this year we want to make a huge jump to 25.

I’m not gonna lie when I say that in the beginning we seemed to be panicking at the thought of a bunch of kids running around and tearing up our office, but everything turned out to be pretty great.

I as a CEO of InOpen attribute InOpen’s conceptualization to my internship days at IIT Bombay which I feel has been a life changing experience for him. Interns are close to InOpen and me.

Our interns came from a variety of schools (IIT ‘s, NUS Singapore, Delhi University, Rajasthan University, Punjab University, SJSOM, and few others). With such a large class, we basically increased our overall team by 30% overnight. Instead of fetching coffee or doing paperwork, our interns hit the floor running and were treated as full-time members of their respective teams (Academics, Operations, Business Developments, Support, and even working with CEO) working on user-facing projects critical to InOpen’s core.

  1. Before the final shipment of Computer Masti it was edited again by the intern team to help make sure InOpen’s secret sauce stays secret.
  2. Our pre – marketing strategy was formed in one of the Intern brainstorm meeting.
  3. InOpen’s Hyderabad Operations were started because of an Intern’s effort.
  4. Writing content which is featured directly in Computer Masti’s content.

As a whole, we think this list is really impressive, and I’d like to give huge props to our entire intern class for being able to deliver. The things they’ve accomplished this summer speak hugely to their creativity, ingenuity, and work ethic.

Around 8 interns went to become full time InOpen employees 🙂

“Working at InOpen is a phenomenal experience, not only because of the learning opportunities provided for interns, but also because of the impact that our products have on the lives of children throughout the country and the rest of the world.

I had the opportunity to be involved in a diverse scope of work at InOpen, thanks to Rupesh’s philosophy of ‘learning comes first’, and a highly supportive team environment. Not only did we tackle high-level strategic issues through market research, but we also got knee-deep into developing the product alongside IIT professors and users at the schools.

If you share the vision of changing the world through education and technology, and are a team-playing go-getter who thrives with responsibility, then InOpen is the place to be.”-Julian Koo, NUS Singapore

“Working in InOpen with such a passionate group of people was a learning as well as an enriching experience for me. They teach you, they guide you and they let you be on your own – two months well spent”- Vanya Rastogi, Delhi University.

“It was an awesome experience working in InOpen as it was a journey filled with love and enlightenment. Directly supervised by the CEO and famous professors from IIT Bombay, both my knowledge of business development and education expanded tremendously. Every day in which I have been working, the smiles of energetic small Indian kids who enrolled in InOpen’s courses, lingered in my mind. Deep in my heart, I was sure that I was contributing to help the poor family and grow our future.”- Li Yawen, NUS Singapore.

“At Inopen I felt the buzz of a young entrepreneurial venture every moment!! The environment teaches you both the challenges and the pleasure of working for a startup where you are allowed to think freely and experiment with your ideas!!”- Vasisht S Ravichandran, SJMSOM, IIT Bombay.

“Best day for me when my initial efforts got kudos from CEO and I was amazed by the mail “Good job Vageesh”. Working with InOpen Technologies Pvt. Ltd was a motivating, inspiring and learning experience enabling me to set short term goals for jobs at hand. The work culture there is of happiness and everyone aim towards perfection through determination, hardwork and dedicated efforts. The environment and behavior of seniors was conducive to my quest for knowledge and skill enhancement.”  Vageesh Pahwa, Delhi.

“I had a most enriching time at InOpen Technologies with the amazing people and work culture there. Since I am very interested in Entrepreneurship and InOpen was a buddying entrepreneural venture, I approached them for an internship. During my stay, I was given the opportunity of organising a workshop for schools in Mumbai and neighbouring areas which gave me a great opportunity to hone my skills in marketing and sales along with event management. Besides that, I got the chance to work on curriculum development, web content creation for their website and even recruitment! InOpen promises a very steep as well as unique learning curve that few Startups can provide at such a stage. Besides, with Rupesh and group, it is always a very enriching experience, no matter what work you do. I am glad to know that InOpen is doing very well at the moment as was always expected of them. ”  Puja Das, IIT Bombay.

Loads of Best Wishes – Team InOpen, SINE IIT Bombay
